Picturesque seaside villages
Why not take a day to explore some of our less well known seaside escapes? Staithes is stunning all year round and less than 2km away. Robinhoods Bay is also worth a visit if you can make it past Whitby without stopping for some world famous fish and chips.
Walking
Walking the Cleveland Way is a great way to spend an afternoon or stroll through the wild North Yorkshire Moors, perhaps you will see the steam from the locomotive trains going by on the North Yorkshire railway
Fishing and whale watching
Join a charter boat from Whitby or take the day at Scaling Dam reservoir to catch some trout. Perhaps come in September and go on a whale watching trip?
Fun for the children
In Borrowby we have an Equestrian centre and so much wildlife to see including owls and deer that is sure to interest any child on a walk down the country lane, or perhaps they would like looking for whitby jet and fossils on the beach? The sealife centre at Scarborough is sure to please everyone too.
Abbeys and Stately homes
Impressive 12th century Rievaulx abbey is sure to delight or perhaps visit Bowes Museum or Castle Howard and its exquisite gardens will delight all the family.
